Five (more) stellar and affordable Valentines day dates
You guys loved our Valentine’s day date ideas last year, so we came up with five (more) stellar and affordable dates.
Boys, I know that most of you hate Valentines day and all that it stands for. Yes, I know it’s a stupid hallmark holiday that is really just a way for big corporations to sell chocolates and jewelry. Yes, I know you should celebrate the woman in your life all the days, and not just once in February. But my question is, do you? When is the last time you made her feel really, really special just because you felt like it?
That my friends, is the secret of Valentine’s day. She’s not after diamonds or expensive roses. She just wants to feel celebrated, loved, and beautiful. Now that doesn’t seem like too much to ask, does it?
I promise, all of the tips after the jump are easy on your wallet and fun for everyone involved. Enjoy!
Target Practice | What’s more romantic than cupid with his quiver of love arrows? Hit an archery range with your sweetie this Valentines day and get the adrenaline flowing. I definitely didn’t know there were so many archery ranges around, so do a quick google and find the one closest to you!
Holiday Inn | Rent a room at a pretty hotel and bring a cooler full of drinks and snacks you can eat in bed and light a million candles. Get out of bed once to go to dinner, or even better, order room service. Stay in bed all day/night. Sometimes, what everyone needs is a lazy day, and who better to do it with than your valentine?
Made with love | Skip the crowded restaurant and make a yummy dinner together that you wouldn’t normally take the time and effort to make. Grab one of those pre-made platters with shrimp and cocktail sauce or learn to open fresh oysters together. Recreate that amazing truffle and mushroom risotto you had that one time, and finish off with a decadent dessert. Avoid lobster, as it’s probably best if you don’t start the date with killing something. And enjoy. Remember that if all else fails, at least you have a funny story and you can always order pizza. Extra points if you go buy all the ingredients at the farmer’s market together first!
Swinging | ….sorta. Invite all your friends over for a Valentines day gift swap. Ask everyone to bring cheesy romantic gifts and gag romantic gifts. Have everyone wrap their gift, but not label it, and then draw names from a hat to determine who gets to open a gift next. Once all the presents are open, gifts can be “stolen” up to twice before they reach their final owner.
Go home sick | Take the day off work and spend the day together! Going to a movie isn’t exactly the most original date idea, but what if you and your sweetie skip work and go see a matinee together? Spend the whole day together, window shop like teenagers and get cozy in an intimate booth for dinner. When’s the last time you really just took a day to appreciate each other?
